    Restenosis is a prevalent complication following balloon angioplasty, primarily characterized by the abnormal proliferation and migration of vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs). Facilitating vascular stent drugs commonly exhibit non-selective cytotoxic effects, markedly impacting the healing process of vascular endothelial cells (VECs) and inducing heightened inflammatory reactions, ultimately leading to chronic inflammation in later stages. In order to mitigate the adverse effects associated with non-selective cytotoxic treatments, a promising alternative lies in the utilization of multiple functional peptides (MFP). A noteworthy prototype of MFP is the Hp1-1 phenotype of Haptoglobin. Hp1-1 has been substantiated to exhibit the highest affinity for M2 macrophages, which, in contrast to M1 macrophages, elicit an anti-inflammatory response. Experimental findings demonstrate that MFP significantly diminishes neointima formation while concurrently suppressing the expression of inflammatory markers. Also, it could moderate immune reaction by suppressing macrophage expression. Additionally, under high glucose conditions, MFP exhibits the capacity to enhance the healing of endothelial cells and promote tube formation. Furthermore, MFP displays considerable anti-oxidative properties, as evidenced by its ability to reduce malondialdehyde formation.
