Traffic injuries are a global safety issue for children and adolescents and one of the major causes of death among young people. However, there are few studies on the causes of traffic accidents among children and adolescents in domestic academic circles, and the number of traffic accidents among children and adolescents in Taiwan remains high. Therefore, this study aims to explore the severity and causes of accident injuries among children and adolescents in Taiwan. , to explore the relationship between variables such as different demographic variables, road conditions and vehicle types, environmental conditions and protective equipment, and weather, and the severity of injuries in traffic accidents. This study is a secondary data analysis. It connects the traffic accident files of the Ministry of Interior Police Station and the health insurance database of the Ministry of Health and Welfare from 2016 to 2018, and uses 48,066 children and adolescents aged 5-17 as the study object. Chi-square test and Logis regression statistics show that teenagers (13-17 years old) have higher traffic accident severity than children (5-12 years old); males in children and teenagers have higher traffic accident severity; drunk driving The severity of accidents is higher; the mortality rate is higher in rural areas in the east and outlying islands; the severity of car accidents on wet roads is higher; the severity of car accidents on road sections and interchanges is higher than at intersections; the severity of car accidents on rainy days and other climate environments The degree is higher than that on sunny days; car accidents that occur at night without lighting are more serious; car accidents that occur late at night are more serious; car accidents that do not use protective devices are more serious; car accidents, large vehicles, small trucks, and motorcycles are more serious high. Bicycle and motorcycle victims generally have higher injury rates but lower fatality rates. The research results can be used as a reference for further exploring the factors causing injuries in traffic accidents among children and adolescents and providing the government with policy improvement measures and school education.
