Gross anatomy laboratory is a heavy-loading course for medical students. In addition to the course pressure, there is also the problem of facing the silent mentor. In this course, Taipei Medical University organized interviews to the family members of the silent mentor to let students know the story of the silent mentor’s life. This study used the qualitative research method to explore the effect of 12 medical students participating in the interview with the family members of silent mentor through focus group interviews. The source of the text is a verbatim transcript of the interview content, and content analysis is used to sort out the students' opinions. Qualitative analysis shows that before the interview, students feel that it is necessary to study the silent mentor for class, and they need to know the silent mentor. The students also said that the interviews brought help, not resistance. With the development of technologies, students feel that silent mentors are irreplaceable. The students all expressed their gratitude and admiration to the silent mentor for donating their bodies. Interviews will make students more active in learning and cherish the learning opportunities of the course. Interviews will not affect students' operations with the silent mentors. For the students, the silent mentor is a special teacher who accompanies the students like a friend. Arranging medical students to interview the family members of silent mentors has a positive impact on the medical students during the dissection process. |
