    摘要: Abstract
Background: Different land use may affect the distribution of dengue incidence
rate and mosquito distribution in many areas. Southern Taiwan, including Kaohsiung and
Tainan, are considered hotspots of dengue outbreaks. However, the associations between
land use, dengue incidence rate and vector distribution in the last ten years have not been investigated here.
Methods: Secondary data of daily confirmed dengue cases, parameters of
mosquito indices from 2010 to 2019 were retrieved from the open database of Taiwan
Centers for Disease Control; yearly population data in each district, shapefiles of districts’ boundaries in Kaohsiung, Tainan and land use were obtained from the open data of Taiwan Ministry of the Interior. Each district was classified into one of three land use groups: agriculture, building and forest by using k-mean cluster algorithm on the percentage of each land use in each district. Welch’s test and post hoc Games-Howell test were performed to assess whether three land use groups show any differences in the incidence rate and mosquito indices.
Results: Sanmin, Lingya, Qianzhen in Kaohsiung and West Central, North and
South in Tainan were districts that recorded the highest incidence rate and all belonged to the building land use group. The average yearly incidence rate observed in the building group was significantly greater than that recorded in both agriculture and forest group in Kaohsiung and Tainan. The mean of mosquito indices in the agriculture group was significantly higher than that observed in the building group in Kaohsiung, while the building group showed a higher mean of mosquito indices than in the forest in Tainan for the period 2010-2019.
Conclusion: To my knowledge, this is the first study evaluating the land use
types associated with dengue incidence rate and mosquito indices in Kaohsiung and Tainan from 2010 to 2019. Thus, these findings may provide an important background for
improving dengue control interventions, especially in developing countries, in order to prevent future dengue outbreaks.
