摘要: Background More than 624,768 migrant workers actively working in Taiwan, and the trend is increasing annually. Most of these workers came from South East Asia countries. Indonesia is ranked among the largest migrant worker population in Taiwan. As the most vulnerable members of society who are responsible to do 3D jobs - dirty, dangerous and demanding. Especially domestic workers, they experience abuse, illness, mental health problems and have limited access to medical care.
Method This study aims to determine the access to health services and factor associated with access to health services of Indonesia domestic migrant workers in Taipei, Taiwan. A total of 248 legal migrant workers who work in Taipei were randomly selected to respond to a structure questionnaire about the satisfaction of health services, using the 5As of health services: availability; accessibility; accommodation; affordability; acceptability. Associations between independent variables and health service utilization were analyzed using multiple logistic regression analysis.
Result 85% of respondent ever sick during their work in Taiwan and only 48.8% of them had access to health services. The factors that significantly associated with health service utilization were marital status (AOR = 2.007; 95% CI: 1.175– 3.429), income (AOR = 2.916; 95% CI: 1.302-6.527) and assigned someone to accompany to health service by the employer (AOR = 1.720; 95% CI = 1.011 -2.927). The result indicated that all Indonesian domestic migrant workers are female (100%) with the range of age 20-more than 45 years old, 62% of them were married, and most of the workers work as caregiver (76.2%) and 100% of them protected under national health insurance.
    Conclusion and Future Implication
The result showed that Indonesia domestic migrant workers’ health service utilization is moderately low. The language barrier and time flexibility were the main obstacle for Indonesia domestic migrant workers to use health services. The findings would be an important input to formulate an effective health service policy for the domestic migrant workers in Taiwan.
