    摘要: 牙周病和蛀牙是口腔內常見的兩大口腔疾病,其罹患的原因多為口腔清潔不完善而造成細菌生物膜及牙菌斑的孳生。為了改善口腔衛生習慣,臨床上已開發一種能簡易檢測牙菌斑分佈情形的試劑,利用赤蘚紅 (Erythrosine,ER) 可吸附於細胞表面使得牙菌斑染色的特性,市面上作為牙菌斑顯示劑已被廣泛的使用,亦有研究指出赤蘚紅也能作為光感色素,結合光動力作用來抗菌。然而,赤蘚紅不僅會染色牙菌斑,還會沾染於牙齦、嘴唇等軟組織長達數小時難以去除,因此如果能於診斷時或光動力治療後,以快速的方式清除可見的紅色染斑,更能有效增加病患對此種診斷方式及治療的意願。而本研究發現,赤蘚紅會因為暴露於酸性溶液內,由原本的鮮紅色進而有變淡的情況,並從調整溶液的酸鹼值和控制照光的時間,得知酸性溶液亦會影響赤蘚紅之吸收光譜與光動力作用的能力。
    Periodontal disease and tooth decay are two common oral diseases. These two diseases are closely related to inadequate oral hygiene that results in formation of bacterial biofilm and even tooth plague. In order to improve the public oral hygiene, an easy method to detect oral plague has been developed. Erythrosine (ER), a red color dye, is able to stain the bacterial biofilm in the oral cavity, and has been widely used as a plaque disclosing agent. ER has also been served as a photosensitizer used for photodynamic anti-bacterial treatment. However, erythrosine stains not only the plague but also the soft tissues such as gingiva and lips into red for hours. Therefore, quickly removal of the color after visualizing the plaque or conducting the photodynamic treatment may increase patients’ compliance of such diagnosis and dental treatment. In this study, we found that the persisting bright red color of ER is subjected to photobleaching, and may also be removed by exposing it to lower pH solution. Solution pH and light exposure time were found to affect the spectral and photodynamic properties of ER.
